Ber-Vaughn Pool Triathlon

Berwick, PA June 6 - 7:30 AM

The 5th annual (4th running) of the Ber-Vaughn Pool triathlon will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at 7:30 AM.  Participants can register as an individual or teams of 2 or 3.   Registration includes an event shirt (guaranteed if registered by June 28) and post-race water and snacks.  Awards will be given out to overall male and female winners — plus age groups in ten year increments:

Age Groups – 1st place through 3rd place: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+  (For greater than 100 participants, age group awards will expand to 5-year increments)

Team Awards – 1st place: Team of 3 and Team of 2

 

Adult Triathlon – Sunday, June 6, 7:30 AM start

Swim:  300 yards (pool swim)

Bike:  12 miles (open roads)

Run:  3.1 miles (open roads)

 

PACKET PICK-UP AND BODY MARKING:  Pick-up will take place on Saturday morning from 6 AM – 7:15 AM at the Ber-Vaughn Pool.

 

SWIM:  The swim take place in the Ber-Vaughn Pool. Swimmers will be started every 15 seconds based on expected swim time. Swimmers will swim in a serpentine fashion up and down the lanes starting at one side of the pool and finishing at the other. Flip turns are not allowed. Warm ups are allowed in the diving area starting at 6:30 AM.

 

TRANSITION:  The transition area is a grassy area near the pool. Bikes are racked in a first come – first racked fashion the morning of the race. The transition area opens to participants at 6:00 AM.

 

BIKE:  The bike course is 12 miles of rolling hills. The bike course is on open roads and cyclists must yield to traffic. After gathering bike in the transition area – participants must walk their bike to the road before mounting.  On the bike, participants will leave the park and make a right hand turn on Park Road.  At the first intersection, cyclists will make a left turn onto Orange Street and continue to follow for approximately 6 miles.  At Ebenezer Faith Bible Church, cyclists will make a left to turnaround in parking lot before returning to route 93 (Orange Street)  Cyclists will follow until again reaching Park Road will they will make a right hand turn – followed by a left turn back into the park/transition area — all left-hand turns cross over on open traffic – please use caution.

 

RUN:  The run is a basic, flat, out and back route. Runners will leave the transition area and head out to Park Road  Runners will stay on the right-hand side of Park Road until they reach Rittenhouse Mill Road.  Runners will make the slight right on Rittenhouse and then continue with a slight right onto Orange Street.  Runners will again be running on the right-side of the road on Orange Street until they make the right turn onto Fairchild Street.  From Fairchild, runners will continue straight and make a left turn on Spring Garden Avenue where they will run until the turnaround point.  Please note — there will be runners going both directions on the same side of the road on both Orange Street and  Park Road.

COURSE NOTE: The section of the course on Park Road can have cyclists overlapping with runners but will definitely have two-way running traffic.

All teams must hand-off/transition in the transition area – i.e. one team member must complete full swim, one team member must complete full bike course and one team member must complete full run.

Bike: Out and back style course that leaves park, turns right onto Park Drive, then a left on Orange Street.  Turnaround point at Ebenezer Faith Bible Church.  Early climb.

Run: Out and back style course that leaves park, turns right onto Park Drive, then a right on Rittenhouse Mill Road, right on Orange Street. and right on Fairchild.  Runners will then make a left on Spring Garden Avenue to the turnaround point.  

 

Race day info

 

Parking: There is no parking in the pool parking lot, this is where the finish line will be set up.  All participants must park in the lots near the softball or baseball fields.  Please note, the youth triathlon will also be using those parking areas for bike and run courses, so there may be some impact after the event.

 

The event is rain or shine

 

Run570 reserves the right to cancel and/or alter the race in the event that natural disaster or other unforeseen circumstance prevents us from holding the race safely as planned. We will make every attempt to hold the event.  Any cancellations or changes, will be noted on the home page, race-specific page and on facebook.  In the event that a cancellation or change of date or venue is required, we are unable to provide refunds.
